Dear Agatha,

I don’t know if this transcends your area of expertise or not, this Fall I'll be a freshman at a major state school. I definitely want to get the most out of my college experience, and I know that this school is big enough that there are bound to be tons of gays. Everyone is saying that Greek Life is an essential part of the college experience, but I know that frats don’t have the best reputation when it comes to homophobia... Will I just feel like a fish out of water if a rush? Should a horny twink like me even bother wearing Greek letters?

Yours truly,

Pete

Dear Peter,

The decision of whether or not you join a fraternity is something that only you can decide for yourself. It’s certainly not for everyone, but if you feel like you want to join, then don’t let a fear of hypothetical homophobia get in your way! This is YOUR college experience, so you should go out there and fearlessly do everything you want to do. Besides, these days most frats have become very welcoming of gay people! It’s like a symbiotic relationship: you get to flirt straight guys all day and they get introduced to all your gal pals that you bring to the parties. Real talk though, the brotherly bonds of a fraternity don’t have anything to do with your sexuality, so it shouldn’t make a difference. If a particular frat does seem really toxic though, just rush a different one. There’s bound to be at least a few “cool” frats. Toga! Toga!

XOXO,

Agatha
