Well, I suppose this was bound to happen sooner or later. So I’ve been dating this guy--let’s call him Chris--for about a year now. We mostly get along great and it’s been a reasonably un-dramatic relationship. I should specify that this is a CLOSED relationship as well. Chris travels for his job fairly often. He was out of town this weekend, and for some reason my sixth sense of infidelity went off. I woke up in the middle of the night thinking that something felt wrong, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. So sure enough, I followed my instincts and accidentally opened Pandora’s box. I downloaded the most popular dating app, made a fake account and set my location to the city he was staying in, and-you guessed it--after a few swipes, there was my boyfriend, shirtless with a bio saying something like “looking to meet new friends.” Now, Chris has never cheated on me before and I guess there’s nothing technically wrong about downloading a dating app just to make friends… but I’m just not sure what to do. Do I confront him? Should I let sleeping dogs lie? Or should I just message him on the app and see what happens?
Oh, you sweet innocent child. Listen to yourself. You say, there’s nothing problematic about his shirtless selfie and chatting with horny gays in remote city... But child, finding your significant other’s secret dating profile is the 21st century equivalent of catching your lover in bed with a stranger. You need to be real with yourself, hon. At the very least, confront him about it. If you just ignore this, you can be certain that whatever he’s doing with these guys (a total secret he's keeping from you), he will continue doing it in the future. There are different apps for networking, and they don’t require shirtless selfies. Sorry sweetie, but this is infidelity.
