It's a song as old as time but it's true AF. Breaking up is hard to do but that doesn't mean you have to go off the deep end when a relationship comes to an end. There are a million and one ways that a breakup can cause a person to dive into negativity, but we're not about that. We're about moving forward to a better place. To a place where you are fierce and free to date again with a smile on your face. With that, we're saying adios to the bullshit and hello to healthy breakup moves you can make after your relationship is no longer existent.

Social Media Cleanse

Continuing to keep tabs on your ex after a breakup via social media is never a good idea. Constantly seeing their every move will slowly drive you insane. Trust us. It's not a good look for you. So the second they're out of your life, make sure they're out of your apps as well. Delete, delete, delete. If they choose to follow you so be it but don't think that you have to continue to keep their follower count up by one just because you have history.

Home Makeover

If you did live together and they're the ones to move out, make sure you take a day or two to not only clean their stuff out but to rearrange your living space too. Giving your home a mini makeover allows you to have complete ownership over your space from top to bottom. It also showcases that you see yourself as a new, single person and are ready to move on.

Start a New Hobby

Get your mind off of the ex by getting into something you've been thinking about for a long time. Whether it's kickboxing or knitting, make sure you take some much needed "you" time and improve the already amazing person that you are by adding a new skill to your repertoire.

Hit the Gym

We've all seen the same scene in every RomCom over the years. Someone gets their heart broken and are suddenly knee deep in pints of ice-cream. That's not good for the mind or body. Instead of going rogue in the frozen food aisle, get to the gym because another thing we've learned from movies is that exercising gives you endorphins and endorphins make you happy.

Pack Your Bags

Sometimes one just needs to get away for a while to really clear their heads and right after a breakup is perfect timing. Take the trip with your besties or alone, no matter who you do or don't go with doesn't matter. Just as long as you're heading there with a smile on your face and return with an even bigger one.

Don't Play the Blame Game

You're a grown ass person. It doesn't matter whose fault the breakup was. You have to move on from it and not stew in the past. That will only make the breakup process take even longer. Just realize that you two weren't meant to be and start focusing on what you can do right with the next person that comes into your life.

Don't Be Friends

At least not right away. You both need time to adjust to life without one another. That means that you two can't still be buddy-buddy during this process. That means no calling, texting, hanging out, no sending each other memes on your fav apps. All that has to cease to exist while you get your head right. Then with time, perhaps you two can come back together with healthier minds and be friends.
