Have You Gotten Unleashed Yet?

It’s been a big year for the Andrew Christian line. Not only did the brand expand to include more skincare and makeup products (yes, we wear makeup proudly now), sex toys, an array of harnesses, and larger-sized undies, but AC kicked off 2023 with its new capsule, the limited edition Unleashed line.
Unleashed is Andrew Christian's design concepts literally unleashed. These are styles of clothing the brand has always wanted to do without the constraints of what the mainstream thinks. Think young, conceptualized, high fashion at a price point everyone can afford.
According to Andrew himself, “It's a collection that pushes boundaries and allows me to express the more artistic avant-garde side of me. Just think about free-form artistic asymmetric shapes modeled into clothing. These are pieces that I have been testing out and wearing in public, so now it's time to share my inspiration with everyone."
Fringe, peek-a-boo cuts, gold chains, lace bras, and even leopard print abound. There is no right or wrong as Unleased celebrates fluidity, body positivity, sex positivity, and sass. There’s something for everyone and the line’s mission is to make you feel sexy and look good doing it.
During Andrew’s visit to On the Rocks with Alexander, he remarked, “These are items that I would make for myself or my friends to wear out. So now people are getting a specialty, a kind of Andrew Christian couture.”
We have seen a recent increase in male celebrities (gay, straight, and non-binary) embracing bold fashion and gender play on the red carpet. According to Andrew, this is trickling down to men’s everyday fashion. “I think there's more individual individuality out there. People are celebrating that and are more able to accept that part of themselves.”
We got Kimora Blac’s response, showing her the line, piece by piece. Being a fashion maven herself, what was her reaction?
“Mesh is always gonna be in every single night. Like, there's no wrong way to wear mesh, to be honest. Mesh is mesh. Mesh is hot. And I love the little fringe. Love it. Nothing is sexier on a man that is wearing a little bit of fringe. Like, that's hot. This is all transitional, you could wear it with a blazer for the guys who are masc but want to be fem a little bit. Oh…and I love a harness! I think harnesses are one easy fashion for men, but harnesses are universal. You could put it on top of a shirt or just by itself. I think it's hot underneath the tank top. You know what I mean? It tells you that ‘I’m down for whatever.’ And these lace pieces… I think it's every top's dream because lemme tell you, I've seen so much porn where guys would have other guys wear girl underwear. I know a lot of guys who have a lace fetish. It feels amazing. It's like silk. I think the lace is my favorite. I'm obsessed.”
According to Kimora, this Unleashed line just wreaks confidence.
“If you're wearing this, this is where you're going. I know where he's going. A guy that's wearing this is on trend. I just was in New York for nine days and they're wearing girl tops. It's legitimately girl tops with baggy pants, hanging out with a jockstrap. It's like a look. It’s ‘look at me, I'm gay, I'm fashion, I'm having fun, I'm being feminine.’ Little touches.”
So there you have it, it is Kimora Blac approved!
Little fun fact, one of the shirt designs is from one of Andrew’s original collections. According to him, people weren’t ready for it. The gays didn’t have the confidence to wear it as a mainstream piece, and the public wasn’t ready to see it. Fashion has definitely evolved…and Andrew knows that fluidity and sexual celebration in fashion are here to stay.
